Citizens of the following countries are exempt from applying for a visa for a stay which does not exceed three months (90 days):
Africa: Algeria (with diplomatic or other official passport)
ECOWAS neighboring countries
Mauritius
South Africa

Asia: Japan; Taiwan;

Europe: The EEC

Mid-East: Israel;

North America: Canada; the United States.

Citizens of all other countries must apply for a visa.

All foreign nationals who wish to remain in Sénégal for longer than three months must meet the visa requirements.

Visa Requirements

  • A valid passport (please verify that there is space for the visa).
  • A completed application form (incomplete applications will result in processing delays).
  • Two (2) passport-size photographs (in color, or black and white). Please attach the pictures to the form.
  • A visa processing fee (the amount of which is subject to change without notice) payable in cash or with a money order. No personal or corporate checks are accepted.

N.B.: All applicants - with the exception of students and those with official assignment or work contracts - who are seeking visas for stays which exceed three months (90 days), must submit to a special interview in order to secure the visa.

  • A letter, from a travel agency, confirming that round-trip tickets have been purchased; or, a copy of the round-trip tickets.
  • For a business visa, please provide a letter from the Company guaranteeing legal responsibility for the bearer while in Sénégal.
  • For a tourist visa, please provide a letter attesting that the prospective traveler is a member of a tour group; or, provide proof of an hotel reservation; or, a letter of invitation from someone residing in Sénégal.
  • For a student visa, please provide a letter of acceptance from the University or College.
  • A self-addressed, stamped envelope (S.A.S.E; express mail or overnight mail is acceptable also).

N.B.: No shots are required, but yellow fever and cholera shots are recommended. (Consult with your physician). Photocopies of pictures are not accepted.

Application processing time: Four (4) business days, maximum. Diplomatic and official passports: 24 hours.
